Description:

Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.

In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.

NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES.* *Discounts/coupons must be used at time of purchase and cannot be added to already purchased tickets. *Ticket holders can sell tickets, but for no more than originally paid. Ticket holders can trade tickets with other ticket holders. If tickets are sold or traded, please transfer the PDF or paper copy of the ticket. If any dispute arises over seats at a show, or somehow duplicate tickets are presented for the same seat, CYT will consider only the original purchaser of the tickets in the CYT database to be the owner of the seats.

Show Notes:

  • CYT students ages 8-18 who are currently enrolled in a class may audition for this show. 
  • An online audition form will be emailed to all students enrolled in a CYT class that selected to participate in auditions. The form will require a bio photo upload, music track upload, and costume measurements in addition to other information. 
  • All auditioning must attend a Vocal Audition and Dance Audition (these are held on 2 separate days). 
  • Some who audition may also be requested to attend a Callback (on the same day as the Dance Audition). 

VOCAL AUDITIONSHeld on Friday, Aug. 13 starting at 4:00. Location: Oak Hills Church 1100 Blue Ravine Rd, Folsom. Please choose a track with no accompanying vocals (such as a karaoke track). Audition music should be no more than 1 minute. Auditions should be to music (not acapella). The director needs to see how well the student can stay with the music, both in tune and in rhythm. You will be able to upload your music to the audition form. It's best if you have a YouTube link or an actual song file rather than getting a song through iTunes, Spotify or Amazon. We cannot open files through these services.

DANCE AUDITIONSHeld on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 9:00am. Location: Oak Hills Church 1100 Blue Ravine Rd, Folsom. All students who audition must attend the dance audition. Students will be taught a dance(s) from the show, and then be asked to perform it for the directors. Parents are welcome to stay and watch the dance audition. Approximate end time is 11:00 am.

CALLBACKS: Held on Saturday, Aug. 14 immediately following the Dance Audition at the same location. CYT callbacks are closed to everyone except the show directors. The directors will call back certain students to sing again, read a scene, dance some more or any combination of these. They will often ask pairs or groups of students to read scenes to see how different combinations of sizes and personalities work together. 
Just because a student is not "called back" does not mean that they will not be cast in the show.

NOTES
  • Students who audition are NOT eligible for a class tuition refund regardless of casting. 
  • All students cast in the show will be charged a production fee of $175.
  • Families are required to volunteer 20+ hours on a parent team.
