Description

This class introduces students to the exciting world of screen acting—where subtlety, focus, and truth matter more than big gestures. Using the same techniques shared with great theater acting, students will explore character objectives, learn how to build a strong inner monologue and practice the power of listening and reacting. Since film, television and digital media make up a huge portion of today’s acting opportunities, on-camera skills are a major advantage for any actor whether you’re planning to pursue the performing arts, or creating your own content just for fun!

Teacher:

Mariah Hildebrandt

Mariah is so excited to be welcomed into the CYT family as a teacher! Mariah graduated with a BFA in Acting for the Stage and Screen from Azusa Pacific University. She has been performing since the age of three and has been honing her craft ever since. A few of Mariah’s favorite productions were Quilters, Cinderella, Greek Mythology Olympiaganza, Seussical The Musical, and The Women. Most recently Mariah has started directing. Her most recent projects were Beauty and the Beast, Shrek the Musical and Mary Poppins. Mariah also has a passion for students and has been working with children since she was a child. She has worked at numerous children theater camps (including CYT) and loves helping children learn through theater. She is so excited to see what God does though her at CYT. Some fun facts about Mariah: she has a baby boy (Arthur) who has enjoyed being the mascot of every CYT show she has directed, she knows sign language, she loves stage make-up and her favorite tv show will always be Little House on the Prairie.
