Description

Inspired by the dynamic body percussion of Come From Away’s “Welcome to the Rock,” this energetic class combines singing, body percussion, rhythm sight-reading, and rhythmic improv using sticks, buckets, hoops, and anything else we can turn into an instrument. Students will strengthen their musicality, coordination, vocal skills, and rhythm-reading abilities while exploring creative ways to make music with their bodies and voices. This class will culminate in a high-energy showcase incorporating singing, stomping, clapping and other vocalizations as they use their imaginations to create a percussive playground.

ATTENDANCE: please make every effort to attend ALL classes.  Students missing more than two classes are in jeopardy of not performing at showcase and attendance may affect their role in a show, if they are currently cast in a show.

CLASSES/CAMPS REFUND POLICY-
NO REFUNDS OF ANY KIND OR CHANGES 2 weeks before the first day camp/class begins. Prior to 2 weeks a $25.00 cancellation fee per class is applied to refunds. Refunds are returned to the original form of payment. Camp/class changes are subject to availability. Tuition must be paid in full in order to register online for camp/class.

Thais Doyle

Thais Doyle is a native Californian and was raised in the Bay Area. She graduated from San Jose State University with a B.A. in Music Performance and Music Education with an emphasis in voice, piano and choral music. She went on to receive her Masters degree from Hope University in Southern California in Worship Ministry administration and leadership. Thais has spent almost forty years working in churches as a Worship Arts Pastor; teaching piano and voice lessons and working with bands and choirs of all ages in church, school and theater settings. Thais joined the teaching and directing staff at CYT in 2021 and has since been honored to teach, direct and be a part of the amazing CYT Family!
