Let's face it. Auditions can be scary. But when you're prepared, auditioning can be fun! Each week students will spend an hour with Mr. Johnson and an hour with Mrs. Toussaint. Mr. Johnson’s weekly workshops will cover topics like audition etiquette, knowing your type, monologue selection and preparation, head shots, resumes, call backs, cold reads and more! Next spend an hour with Mrs. Toussaint to focus on your vocal audition. Get personal advice on “building your book” by adding appropriate audition songs to your repertoire, as well as practical techniques to highlight your vocal strengths, deliver a song with passion and create a memorable performance. Get ready to knock ‘em dead with the Complete Audition Package: You!
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Katie has been participating in the arts all of her life. Katie has a BA in Music, vocal performance from California Polytechnic State University. After graduation, Katie became a technical intern at California Musical Theatre's Music Circus for their 2011 season. There she worked for both the music production team, and wardrobe and fell truly head over heels for professional musical theatre. In 2012 Katie moved to southern California where she performed in numerous styles and performing venues such as Disney's California Adventures and Knott's Berry Farm, among others. Katie has taught voice, piano and music theory for several years, and has music directed several musical theatre productions. Katie moved back up to northern California late last year to be closer to extended family. She is loving life with her husband (Eric), daughters (Ellie & Addie) and 2 dogs, and pursuing life as a performer and teacher of the arts. Soli Deo Gloria.
Kevin Johnson is an actor, singer, dancer, director and visual artist. His visual art is signed “KJohnson”. He has worked as an actor for 40 years and a graduate from the University of Evansville. He has worked with IRT, the Phoenix Theatre, Edyvean Theatre, Indianapolis Civic Theatre, Soul People Repertory Theatre, Actors’ Inc., San Francisco Mime Troupe, Intersection of the Arts in San Francisco, Indianapolis Opera Company, Footlite Musicals, where he won an encore award for the musical “Grand Hotel”. He toured Europe with the Chorale Ayers while studying in England. He has worked Summer-stock Theatres with Cross- Roads Repertory Theatre in Terre Haute, The Weathervane Theatre in Whitefield, New Hampshire, and Memphis Black Rep in Memphis, TN.
He has also worked in film and TV. Though he lived ten years in San Francisco he has returned to Indianapolis, his home town, to care for his mother, who has now passed on. He is thankful for the time he had with her. He is the son of the late- Alonzo “Pookie” Johnson an Indianapolis Jazz Legend.
He had a feature character role in the Movie film Short: “A Song for Jade” which won awards in San Francisco, Oakland and the Los Angeles Black Film Awards. Since his return to Indianapolis, He has worked with Asante Children’s Theatre, Freetown Village, Spotlight Players, Indy Bard, No Exit Productions, Phoenix Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Philip Watt Productions, and the San Francisco Mime Troupe to name a few.
He also has 2 commercials playing one for L.S. Ayres at the Indiana History Society where he is an employee for the Cole Porter Room and the Healing Bodies, Changing Minds exhibit. He also has a commercial running for the St. Vincents Cancer Care.
