Class Description

Secrets of the stage:
Join us as we dive in behind the scenes and explore the cleverness and sometimes craziness of theatre.  Things aren’t always what they seem, so come learn about some of the fascinating tricks of the trade and try your hand at a few.  In this class, we will look at the complex sets, trick costumes and props, and special effects that go into creating the magic of theatre.  As we examine elements from Broadway productions like Wicked, The Lion King, Aladdin, War Horse, Miss Saigon, and She Loves Me, you will come to love and appreciate the artistry of the stage

NO REFUNDS OF ANY KIND OR CHANGES 2 weeks before the first day camp/class begins. Prior to 2 weeks a $25.00 cancellation fee per class is applied to refunds. Refunds are returned to the original form of payment. Camp/class changes are subject to availability. Tuition must be paid in full in order to register online for camp/class.


Andrea Smit

Andrea Smit brings to CYT her years of experience as an event planner, set dresser, set designer, and props master. While getting her BA in Interior Design, she interned with CBS studios working on the sets of television shows and commercials. During the years she spent with the Foothills Theatre Company, she worked in various positions as a set dresser, set designer, props master, and assisted with costume design. She is currently the Props Committee Chair for CYT Sacramento’s Roseville productions. Her two biggest passions are creativity and kids, and she feels so blessed to have the opportunity to share her experience with the students at CYT.
