Class Description

Shakespeare can be an intimidating subject to introduce. Isn’t the language archaic and doesn’t high quality mean high difficulty? This course focuses on the particular techniques an actor needs to conquer Shakespeare, without fear! Students will learn specific tools that lead to a greater understanding of text which lead to greater strength and clarity in performances of any kind.  The first part of the class will be dedicated to the art of the soliloquy, with the latter half of class time devoted to scene work.

Kate Morton

Kate Morton is thrilled to be joining CYT here in Sacramento after working with CYT@School in San Diego for over two years. She received her BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of San Diego. She is very passionate about classical work, specifically Shakespeare, and was honored to play Henry V her senior year at USD. She is currently an apprentice at Capital Stage Theatre Company in Sacramento where she does everything from assistant directing to lighting assistant. She is thrilled to be able to share her knowledge and passion for Shakespeare with the students at CYT.
