Class Description

Whether you’ve never taken a tap class or you’ve got a ton of tappin’ experience, this class is for you!  Learn (or refresh) the basics including shuffles, flaps, the Irish, Maxi Ford, Buffalo, Soft Shoe, Shim Sham, Time Steps and more!  This class will culminate with an entertaining rhythmic-routine to be performed at showcase on Friday, January 31.   So step on out, Christian Community Theater!

NO REFUNDS OF ANY KIND OR CHANGES 2 weeks before the first day camp/class begins. Prior to 2 weeks a $25.00 cancellation fee per class is applied to refunds. Refunds are returned to the original form of payment. Camp/class changes are subject to availability. Tuition must be paid in full in order to register online for camp/class.


Beverly Stewart-Short

Bev Stewart-Short started dancing at the age of 3 at her grandmother’s dance studio in Orange, CA. She has trained at various companies such as the National Ballet School of Canada, the Orange County Ballet Company, and Broadway Dance center in New York. She started her performing career as lead dancer/singer with Royal Viking Cruise Line. Some of her performing credits include “42nd Street” (CT), “No, No, Nanette” (NY), “Ziegfeld, A Night at the Follies” (Harrah’s, NJ), “Hello Dolly” & “Cinderella” (Long Beach CLO). Bev has been teaching ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, and musical theatre dance for over 30 years. Some of Bev’s award winning choreography credits include “Annie”, “Seussical The Musical”,“Crazy For You”, “42nd Street”, “Chicago”, “Godspell”, “Swing” and “Guys and Dolls”. Bev is thrilled to be part of the incredible teaching staff at CYT. She has especially enjoyed being the choreographer for CYT’s “Crazy For You” and “Footloose”. She is a wife, and mother of 4 teenagers and she is very passionate about sharing God’s love through performing arts!
