In this hands-on class we’ll create a variety of oversized lanterns, colorful carnival masks and tomatoes (wait, what?) to be used as props in CYT’s Spring production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We’ll explore the role of a prop master and learn the tips and tricks for creating quasi-realistic “properties” for the stage (Quasi-realistic, Quasimodo. . . See what I did there?!)  Get smart! Get messy! Get making!

Teacher:

Andrea Smit

Andrea Smit brings to CYT her years of experience as an event planner, set dresser, set designer, and props master. While getting her BA in Interior Design, she interned with CBS studios working on the sets of television shows and commercials. During the years she spent with the Foothills Theatre Company, she worked in various positions as a set dresser, set designer, props master, and assisted with costume design. She is currently the Props Committee Chair for CYT Sacramento’s Roseville productions. Her two biggest passions are creativity and kids, and she feels so blessed to have the opportunity to share her experience with the students at CYT.

Teacher:

Kaytlin McIntosh

Kaytlin McIntosh is so excited for the opportunity to be a part of the CYT Sacramento family as an instructor. She began taking American Sign Language classes in 2011 at Sierra College. This was where she fell in love with Deaf culture and sparked her passion for the Deaf community. After finishing Sierra College, she transferred to California State University Northridge, where she graduated with her BA in Deaf Studies in 2017. Currently Kaytlin works as a teacher's aid in an elementary school classroom with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Kaytlin was added to the CYT Sacramento family for the 2018-2019 season when she had the opportunity to stage manage Dear Edwina, Jr. She is delighted to both teach and stage manage this season with CYT Sacramento and see what God has for this season.
