Description



APEX stands for “Advanced Performer Exhibition” and is a CYT National initiative to provide well rounded instruction and advanced training.  The goal of this class is  to increase and improve skills to prepare students who want to audition in the Spring for the APEX Improv Team and compete at CYT EXPO July 20-24, 2024 in Dallas, TX.
This class will focus on the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, improve storytelling skills, and learn techniques to grow in creativity and thoughtful team improv play. The class will build skills through foundational instruction, warm-ups, exercises, scenic work, and basic short-form games while developing a trusting, cooperative, fun, and imaginative atmosphere.

***Prerequisite - Must audition to participate in this class.  Auditions will be held 4:30-6pm on Nov 7 at Valley Springs Presbyterian Church.

lease enroll in your first choice alternative class.  If you are accepted, you will be administratively added to this class.

**Improv is only being offered in Roseville due to teacher availability and centrality of location.  Students who are accepted into this class will be allowed to audition for either Folsom or Roseville show.  There are no show/class conflicts.  If you want to audition for Anastasia sign up for your first choice alternative class in Roseville.  If you want to audition for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers sign up for your first alternative class in Folsom.   

CLASSES/CAMPS REFUND POLICY-

NO REFUNDS OF ANY KIND OR CHANGES 2 weeks before the first day camp/class begins. Prior to 2 weeks a $25.00 cancellation fee per class is applied to refunds. Refunds are returned to the original form of payment. Camp/class changes are subject to availability. Tuition must be paid in full in order to register online for camp/class.

Austin Nunn

Austin Mark Nunn loves being a part of the CYT Sacramento family. He graduated with his BA in Performance and Directing from Vanguard University of Southern California. A few of Austin’s favorite productions as the director and/or choreographer include, Peter Pan, Kiss Me Kate, Metamorphosis, Dancing at Lughnasa, and The Addams Family. Austin is the resident choreographer for Reality Youth show choir which has performed all over the United States. Austin has performed professionally throughout Southern California and in the greater Sacramento area. Favorite roles include the Baker in Into the Woods, Uncle Fester in The Addams Family, Elton John in The Beat Goes On (a role he originated) Joe Cable in South Pacific and Captain Phoebus de Martin in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. For his performance of First Gangster in Kiss Me Kate, Austin was nominated for the Irene Ryan Outstanding Performance Award by the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. He is grateful for the opportunity to share his love for the arts with the students at CYT Sacramento and looks forward to all that God has in store.

Alex Keyes

Alex is a student at American River College pursuing a degree in theatre arts. Alex is a CYT alumni and is thrilled to be back as a teacher! Working with kids has always been a source of joy throughout her life as she has grown up volunteering in nurseries at church and surrounded by a small army of cousins. Alex has loved theatre since she was 8 years old, and has since performed with a myriad of companies from her hometown of Auburn and in the greater Sacramento area. Alex spent two years on the CYT improv team and has now ventured out into the improv community at American River College. She is so pleased to share her love of improv and be immersed in the CYT community once again to share the wonders of Yes, and!
